Freetown, Sierra Leone's

Vulnerable City

FREETOWN, SIERRA LEONE'S VULNERABLE CITY

Sierra Leone's coastal capital city, Freetown is vulnerable to climate change because of rising sea levels. It's many communities already suffer life-threatening flooding in prolonged and more severe rainy seasons.

Freetown also suffers from a huge waste problem with smouldering dump sites causing health and environmental damage and many people scavenging for a livelihood.

We support Operation Clean Freetown, an innovative new scheme giving jobs to youths and we make a call to go further and create a market for recycling our waste.

If we protect the things that protect us we can fight climate change.
