We whole-heartedly welcome President Bio's commitment yesterday at the one-year national commemoration service for mudslide and flooding victims for a new National Tourist Memorial Park at Mortomeh, the epicentre of the mudslide to honor victims and provide a space for reflection.

Back on World Environment Day we joined calls to reforest Regent and for a rewilded Memorial Park where survivors and relatives and all of us can come to remember our brothers and sisters and reflect on our loss.

We believe the Memorial Park is a most fitting remembrance for the many souls that rest at Regent still so that we can remember for all time the lessons from the worst disaster to befall our young nation.
