YOUTH ART FOR CLIMATE ACTION IN SIERRA LEONE

Five more schools completed training today at the Freetown Media Centre for the innovative art competition with the second session training 12 teachers and students each from Prince of Wales, Sierra Leone Grammar School, Sierra Leone International Mission School, Saint Joseph's Convent and Annie Walsh Memorial Secondary School.

Climate Champions, Sierra Leone School Green Club (SLSGC) and Society for Climate Change Communication Sierra Leone (S4CCC) shared their knowledge with pupils on the art competition's themes of environmental degradation and climate change challenges.

Three schools will be selected by a panel of judges and the winning entries will each receive a prize and and have their artworks exhibited at the British Council during Climate Diplomacy Week to promote Sierra Leone youths’ voices and priorities.

The works will be presented by the students to the British Council on 4 October 2019 and the three winning schools announced and awarded a prize with their art exhibited during Climate Diplomacy Week to raise awareness of climate change in the third most vulnerable nation to dangerous climate impacts and give voice to youths’ priorities for climate action.
