SMOG BLANKETS FREETOWN ON NATIONAL CLEANING DAY

A thick pall of toxic smog hung over Freetown today marring the nation's Big Saturday Clean Up. This hazardous pollution caused in part by our own citizen's burning their dirty, by our cities dumpsites perpetually burning and fumes belching from knackered vehicles finding an unchecked after-life on our streets.

We all know this most unhealthy combination sometimes blankets the city for days on end an unfortunate intersection of the smog - a man made problem - our capital's geography - our city is built on the mountainside trapping pollution and climate when lack of wind aids the pollutants entrapment.

We're always happy to report citizen's taking control and clean streets but call on the Government to work with Freetown City Council to give the Mayor the freedom and the tools to transform Freetown and rid our capital of this toxic mess.
